WHAT IS THE C.C.S.T. PROGRAM?

The C.C.S.T. Chiropractic Certification in Spinal Trauma program is a highly acclaimed, comprehensive post-graduate certification program that presents current CHIROPRACTIC applications of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, clinical case management, and records management for trauma cases.

The certification, credentialed through the ICA Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences ("CACS"), is renowned for its exceptional combination of groundbreaking research updates and practical clinical applications.  Dan Murphy, D.C. is the developer and primary lecturer of this comprehensive post-graduate curriculum, bringing his distinctive combination of extensive experience, supportive research references, and intensive, focused clinical insights for the practitioner to this popular program.

WHAT TOPICS ARE COVERED IN THE SEMINAR MODULES?

The program material in each seminar module is developed to be put to work in chiropractic practice to enhance quality of care and provide practical resources for doctors to meet the challenges of spinal trauma care in today's health care marketplace environment.  The topics covered in each of the ten program modules present current and clinically relevant information with research references and useful tools doctors can implement immediately following the program, on:

  • trauma neurology
  • mechanisms of injury
  • examination and assessment of injury cases
  • clinical trauma case management concerns
  • documentation, recordkeeping and reporting management

For a list of seminar module topics and the dates they are presented this year, visit the C.C.S.T. schedule.  For overviews of individual module content visit each module topic listing.

CAN I BENEFIT FROM TAKING INDIVIDUAL MODULES IN THE SERIES, EVEN IF I'M NOT WORKING TOWARDS CERTIFICATION?

Yes!  Each seminar module is dedicated to provide valuable information and useful tools which doctors can implement immediately following the seminar to improve the quality of care for each patient in their practice.

You are welcome to attend portions of the program even if you aren't intending to become certified as a C.C.S.T. doctor.  Doctors may take individual seminar sessions for enhanced expertise in areas of special concern and interest, and for continuing education relicensure credit in approved states.

HOW DO I GET CREDIT APPLIED TOWARDS THE CCST CERTIFICATION FOR SEMINAR ATTENDANCE?

The 2007 C.C.S.T. Seminar Program is co-sponsored through Life University; the  attendance records for each seminar are forwarded by Life University Department of Postgraduate Education directly to the ICA Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences, and hours of attendance are archived by the Council for credit towards completing the educational requirements for the C.C.S.T. Certification.

The series of program module seminars should be undertaken and completed within a two-year period. For details and requests for special arrangements with difficulties in scheduling and completing the program in this time frame, please contact the Council directly.

  • The core Educational Attendance requirements for certification involve attendance to a minimum of 9 of the 10 individual 12-hour seminar modules of the C.C.S.T. program.

  • Individual seminar modules do not have to be completed in numeric order.  You may start the sequence of seminar modules at any point of the program through the year.  (Attendees please note that while the seminars do address specified topic areas and you may attend individual modules, there also is a flow of content that is provided through the year's series of modules.)

  • The 9 or 10 program module segments should be completed within a two-year period. For details and special arrangements with any individual difficulties in scheduling and completing the program in this time frame, contact the Council directly.

HOW DO I COMPLETE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE C.C.S.T. CREDENTIAL?

The doctors who have attended 9 of the 10 seminar modules also must complete a Final Examination for certification, with the testing results administered through the ICA Council on Applied Chiropractic Sciences.   Membership in the Applied Sciences Council is a requisite for completing the C.C.S.T. certification credentialing requirements, as the Council serves as the credentialing body that issues your C.C.S.T. certification, provides your official certification documentation, maintains your qualifications records on file, and publishes updated certification listings in the ICA Sciences Councils Referral Directory.  C.C.S.T. credentials maintenance and servicing are provided through your membership in the Council with the  dues payment of $75.00; you do not need to provide any additional credentialing registration or maintenance fee, the service is provided to you in conjunction with your Council membership benefits.  Additional information on certification credentialing and Council membership benefits is provided on the C.C.S.T. InfoSite.
