Overview
Health and Fitness are on everyone's mind today. The rapidly rising cost of illness-based health care and the escalating rates that result for both personal-pay and third-party coverage have focused the attention of government and community leaders, as well as individual consumers, on the challenge of reducing health costs. Everyone is increasingly aware that illness-directed health care is not effectively preventing or resolving the health problems people face and that there are powerful preventive and corrective choices people can take. Promoting fitness through physical activity and diet are powerful lifestyle choices, with an intensive and far-reaching impact on “quality and quantity” of life.
To address these challenges, the Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science of the International Chiropractors Association has established a series of effective resources and objectives. The goals of the Fitness and Sports Council are to promote better health by sharing resources and news on athletes under chiropractic care, research findings on chiropractic and fitness/sports health science, and the latest developments in strength and conditioning safety and effectiveness. Members are part of a corps of practitioners dedicated to better understanding, disseminating and advancing clinically relevant applications of sports health science in and through chiropractic. We invite you to join us in our commitment to community health and professional leadership through membership in the ICA Council on Fitness and Sports Health Science and support of its programs.
The Fitness Council's focus on chiropractic leadership in fitness and healthy lifestyle science works to support you and your practice with access to an exciting array of strategies, technologies, resources, benefits and educational opportunities! As an organization and as a growing network of dedicated practitioners, we work together to help you better educate the people in your community on the safe, effective, drug free, natural alternative chiropractic has to offer individuals of all ages -- while meeting an urgent public health need through safe exercise strategies, injury prevention and management, and education on fitness lifestyle choices.
