ICA Recognizes Dr. Dennis Marchiori with Special Excellence in Chiropractic Education Award
The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) has recognized Palmer educational system Chancellor Dr. Dennis Marchiori with a special Excellence in Chiropractic Education award for his exceptional leadership in that vitally important field. This special recognition was presented to Dr. Marchiori for his insightful and forward-looking leadership at Palmer and throughout the chiropractic educational community worldwide. Dr. Marchiori received his award from ICA President Dr. George Curry on the Palmer Davenport Campus during the ICA’s 90th Annual Meeting. “ICA deeply respects and appreciates the efforts of Dr. Marchiori to lead and innovate in the realm of chiropractic education and to also maintain a powerful focus on the core principles of chiropractic,” said Dr. Curry when presenting this important award. “ICA cherishes its longstanding relationship with Palmer College, as Palmer College in Davenport was the place of ICA’s establishment by Dr. B. J. Palmer in 1926, and we look forward to many decades of productive partnership with the Palmer community.”
Dr. Marchiori currently serves as the fourth chancellor of the Palmer university system. A native of western Pennsylvania, Dr. Marchiori completed his prerequisite work at Penn State University before earning his Bachelor of Science at Regents College in Albany, N.Y. He graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College's Davenport Campus in 1990 and went on to earn his Master of Science degree in anatomy at Palmer in 1992. Dr. Marchiori received his Doctorate in policy, planning and leadership from the University of Iowa in 2005. He has had faculty appointments in the Research, and Diagnosis and Radiology departments. His administrative tenure includes the roles of department chair, dean, vice president of academic affairs for the Davenport Campus, and vice chancellor for academics for the Palmer College system. In addition to his teaching and administrative service, he has published numerous scientific articles and two editions of a comprehensive textbook in radiology, titled Clinical Imaging.
Hosted on campus by Palmer College, ICA celebrated its 90th Anniversary over the weekend of April 8-9, 2016 in Davenport, Iowa where ICA leaders from around the world gathered to both conduct the business of the ICA as well as share a very special time of fellowship and reflection on the Association’s decades of service and accomplishment.
The International Chiropractors Association is the oldest continuously active international chiropractic organization in the world. Founded in 1926 in Davenport, Iowa by Dr. B.J. Palmer, the ICA represents thousands of practitioners, educators, students and lay persons, and supports and advances the interests of chiropractic, chiropractors, and the patients they serve through advocacy, research, and education. Throughout its long history, the ICA has continued to educate and inform the public, other health care professions, and health policy makers on the principles and definitions of chiropractic to foster clarity for a broader understanding and acceptance of the profession as a distinct healing art, philosophy, and science.
